"I like simple interiors, less is preferred, but always enriched by elements of curiosity, an antique, a piece of art, a hint of richness."

As one of America's most respected and awarded designers, Orlando Diaz-Azcuy has come to symbolize elegant, disciplined and intelligent design. Like every artistic achievement, simplicity is the result of painstaking effort. As the creator of a range of new products for McGuire, Diaz-Azcuy has relied on his eye for architectural simplicity to design a collection of dramatic silhouettes and unforgettable visual effects.

Diaz-Azcuy holds a degree in architecture from Catholic University in Washington D.C. and masters degrees in landscape architecture and city and regional planning from the University of California at Berkeley.

As founder of Orlando Diaz-Azcuy Designs in 1987, he continues to integrate refined design principles with highly energetic creativity. Hotels in Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan and the United States, as well as residences, offices and showrooms throughout the world, all share the mark of this designer.

Diaz-Azcuy teaches summer session at the graduate School of Design at Harvard University and is a trustee of the board of directors of the San Francisco Opera Association. He has formerly held posts with American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the University Art Museum in Berkeley.

Diaz-Azcuy also shares a rich history with and mutual admiration for the founders of McGuire - John and Elinor McGuire. While his new designs represent an evolution for McGuire, they also reflect the designer's appreciation for high-quality craftsmanship, exotic materials and timeless design that are the signatures of this nearly 50-year-old company.
